Zinc Coating / Plating

ISO Standard

Our Standard Zinc Plating is according to ISO 19598 – Fe//Zn4//An//T0:

  • A transparent Zinc Coating without alloying element, sealant or lubricant
  • A layer thickness of min. 4 μm

If you need a different composition or layer thickness, please let us know, and we will quote accordingly.

Composition

Our Standard Zinc Plating composes of 100 % Zn. Our Zinc Plating does not contain Chrome VI.

REACH/RoHS

Our Zinc Plating is conform to the RoHS directive 2011/65/EU appendix II of the recasting (EU) 2015/863 and has been tested with reference to IEC 62321-4 : 2013+A1 : 2017, IEC 62321-5 : 2013, ISO 17075-1 : 2017, IEC 62321-6 : 2015, IEC 62321-8 : 2017, by ICP-OES, UV-VIS, GC-MS and does not contain any harmful or hazardous substances above the herein specified limits. Our Zinc Plating does not contain Chrome VI.

General Information

Rust is the number one enemy of metals. We offer a thin Galvanic Zinc Plating for protection.

Our product item numbers are identified with a ZP suffix, ZP stands for Zinc Plating.

Advantages of the Zinc Plating / Coating

  • Corrosion protection on all surfaces
  • No corrosion build-up in the contact area of the seals
  • Through the cathodic effect, small bare spots and wear in the seal area will still be protected.
  • Longer bearing life span compared to uncoated
  • Interchangeable with normal unprotected bearings
  • Can be used instead of Stainless Steel bearings in many applications
  • Great price/performance ratio

These innerrings have been subject to a 24-hour salt spray fog test, acc. to DIN 50 021, ASTM B117. The left innerring is Zinc Plated, the right innerring is not treated.

Applications and Limitations

ZP coated bearings are suitable for applications in condensed water, rainwater, dirty water, mild alkaline and mild acid cleaning detergents.

Strong saltwater and heavy alkaline and acid liquids will attack the ZP coating. For these applications we recommend stainless steel bearings.
