722500 – Mounting Instructions
General Mounting Principles
To ensure optimal bearing performance and long service life, follow these guidelines:
-
Support surface: Ensure the mounting surface is flat and even. Recommended: roughness max. 12.5 μm, flatness IT7.
-
Heavy loads:
-
Support the housing with a stop.
-
Drill through-holes in the base flange and use dowel pins for additional support.
-
-
Centering ring: The 722500 series can be supplied with a centering spigot (suffix AZ/BZ) at the rear for better positioning.
-
Bolts:
-
Normal loads: use bolts of strength class 8.8.
-
Heavy loads: use bolts of strength class 10.9.
-
Mounting Instructions
-
Preparation
-
Ensure the support surface is clean.
-
If shims are used, cover the entire contact area.
-
Consider load, vibration, and possible adjustment.
-
-
Shaft check
-
Clean all contact surfaces.
-
Machine the shaft seat to tolerance h9/IT5.
-
-
Mounting of intermediate parts
-
Install any components to be positioned between two housings on the shaft.
-
-
Mounting of sealing rings
-
Felt seals: soak with grease before installation.
-
Rubber seals: fill the space between sealing lips with grease and insert into groove.
-
Through shaft: also install seals in the covers.
-
-
Positioning the housings
-
Place housings on the support surface.
-
Insert bolts and tighten lightly.
-
-
Insert the shaft
-
Position the shaft so it rests in the housing bores.
-
-
Lubrication
-
Fill the bearing completely with grease.
-
Place the remaining recommended grease (see table 1) in the housing on both sides.
-
-
Mounting the bearing in the locating position
-
Install the locating ring.
-
Clean and lubricate the shaft lightly.
-
Slide the adapter sleeve onto the shaft.
-
-
Inside wall mounting
-
Mount the bearing onto the adapter sleeve, insert the tab washer, tighten the locknut by hand.
-
Tighten the locknut according our manual for:
-
Self-Aligning Ball Bearings (click the link to open the manual)
- Spherical Roller Bearings (click the link to open the manual)
-
Secure by bending one washer tab into the locknut slot.
-
If bending is not possible: never loosen the locknut, but tighten it slightly beyond the specified torque.
-
-
Outside wall mounting
-
Mount the bearing onto the adapter sleeve, tighten the locknut by hand without a tab washer.
-
Tighten the locknut according our manual for:
-
Self-Aligning Ball Bearings (click the link to open the manual)
-
Spherical Roller Bearings (click the link to open the manual)
-
Remove the locknut again, install a tab washer, and refit the locknut without moving the bearing further.
-
Secure by bending one washer tab into the locknut slot.
-
If bending is not possible: never loosen the locknut, but tighten it slightly beyond the specified torque.
-
-
Mounting the bearing in the non-locating position
-
Repeat the same procedure for the second bearing.
-
Ensure it can move axially during operation.
-
-
Shaft check
-
Verify free shaft rotation without jamming.
-
Adjust if necessary.
-
-
Finishing
-
Fit the cover and tighten the cover bolts with a torque wrench according to the table below:
-
-
Final adjustment
-
Align housings.
-
Tighten base flange bolts with a torque wrench according to the table below:
-
